Values clarification

Starting from Within

A funnel exercise. Narrow a list of 90 values down to five, then rank them to see what matters most right now.

Interactive values clarification activity: narrow a list of 90 values (or your own, if not listed) down to 20, then 10, then 5, then rank your final 5 and view a results card.

How the activity works

  1. 1Narrow to 20. Look through all 90 values and click any that genuinely matter to you. Don't see one of your values? Type it in and add it to the list. Most people pick more than 20 at first — that's normal. Just deselect a few until you're at 20 or fewer.
  2. 2Narrow to 10. Only your 20 will show up here. Cut it in half. This round is usually the hardest, since everything left still feels important.
  3. 3Narrow to 5. One more cut, down to exactly five. These are the values doing the most work in how you actually show up — not who you think you should be.
  4. 4Rank them. Use the arrows to put your five in order, most central at the top. There's no wrong order — go with your gut.
  5. 5Get your results card. Your ranked top five will lay out on a clean summary card you can screenshot or save as a PDF to keep.
