NURSG 500 · Week 6 · Challenge the Process
Prosci is one of the most widely used change management methodologies in the world, and it is the source of the ADKAR model you saw in this week's video. We will go much deeper into this material in upcoming courses. For now, you are getting oriented, so the language feels familiar when it comes back.
Before you go: Prosci is a commercial training company, so the site includes pop-ups, certification offers, and eBook downloads. You do not need to download anything or create an account for this week. Read the two pages below and close the rest.
Reading side by side: each stop has an Open side by side button that places the Prosci page on the right half of your screen. To snap this page to the left half, press Windows + ← on Windows, or drag this window to the left edge on a Mac and choose Tile Window to Left.
Not started — 3 stops remaining.
Read the sections titled What is Change Management? and Why Change Management? Skim past the certification promotions in between.

Read the overview and the short descriptions of the three components. You are not learning to apply these yet. You are building a mental map of the whole system, so that ADKAR has somewhere to sit when you reach it in the next stop.

One thing to carry forward: leadership and sponsorship is a corner of the PCT Model, not an afterthought. That will matter when you assess which of your stakeholders holds real authority over your change.
You met this model in the video, and you have just seen where it sits inside the wider methodology. Now go one level deeper. Read the sections Organizational change requires individual change and The 5 Elements of the ADKAR Model. You can stop before the sections on Proxima, the book, and the case studies. Those are tools you do not need yet.

As you finish, hold onto two questions. They will do real work for you in this week's assignment.
